Those children living in the villages of West Wratting, Weston Colville, Streetly End and West Wickham are entitled to the free bus service. Application forms are made to the County and are available from the school
office.

Each bus has a supervisor on board who meets the children and registers them each morning. The supervisor is in charge of the general safety and behaviour of the children on the bus. Buses are equipped with seatbelts. Once they arrive at school, a member of staff will meet the children at the bus. They will check the children off the bus and the younger children are then walked into school; the older children make their own way.

At the beginning of the day bus lists are sent around to each class and the children are checked off by the class teacher, if there are any issues these can then be resolved in plenty of time. At the end of the day, the children gather in the computing suite and are checked off the bus register by a teacher. There are usually two teachers on duty together. Once all the children are accounted for, the teacher(s) counts up the number of children and walks them down to the waiting buses and then again counts them as they board the bus.

The safety of the children is our paramount concern and so it is imperative that any changes to the usual routine are made known to the school office so they can amend the registers. The bus will not leave unless the duty staff is confident that each child is accounted for. A lack of communication can lead to delays which affects all the children on the bus and parents waiting at bus stops.

Children who continually misbehave and/or are a danger to the safety of others will not be allowed to travel by bus for an agreed period of time.
