Transition
Starting School
TRANSITION INTO PRIMARY SCHOOL
We understand how important a smooth transition into Reception is for young learners. To ensure each child feels welcomed and prepared, our skilled Reception teachers work hard to get to know them before they start in September. This includes pre-school visits, discussions with key workers and parents, and thoughtfully planned transition sessions. One special event is our “Messy Play” day, where children and parents can explore fun activities like shaving foam, gloop, paint, and playdough in our Early Years base. This is followed by a session where children are left to explore their new classroom and meet their teachers and classmates.
Additionally, each Reception child is paired with a Year 6 ‘Buddy’ who helps them throughout their first year, providing support and making them feel more at home. We also hold a transition day where children are invited to stay for lunch, further easing their adjustment into their new school environment. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the office or speak with your child’s future teacher.
Moving Through School
TRANSITION INTO EACH YEAR
We are passionate about supporting our children every step of the way through their educational journey. this includes understanding the significance of a smooth transition from year to year. To facilitate this, we hold two “move-up” days each July, allowing children to meet their new teacher and become familiar with their upcoming classroom. Additionally, our teachers conduct detailed handovers to ensure a seamless support system for every child. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s transition further, please feel free to contact the office or speak directly with your child’s teacher.
