Young Carers at the Meadow
We provide a safe and trusted environment where young carers can socialise with other children, communicate with peers, access support, and have fun.
We also provide a designated member of staff to champion YC (Inclusion Lead, Lizzie Beecroft-Sullivan). Class based staff and the YC champion serve as a point of check in with the child if needed. We may also utilise our ELsA with a YC where they could offer support if this is identified as a need. ELsA support is subject to a caseload and allocated on a needs basis.
We can also signpost parents to YC organisations and groups run by the LA or other community groups. We can also support and authorise after review absence for organised YC events through such an organisation. This may include weekly counselling, play sessions, events etc.
Please contact Lizzie Beecroft-Sullivan via the school office if you would like additional information. You can also visit this link for more resources on supporting young carers
